A place where I rank various aspects of games I’ve played from best in general to soundtrack and more.
Top 30 Games of the 2010s
My personal favourite games of the 2010s as the decade ends. Only includes games that I’ve beat. Remakes count, remasters don’t with one exception.
30) Super Mario Maker 2 (Switch)
Key additions such as a story mode and extra themes make this game an improvement over the already fun first one.
29) Super Mario 3D World (Wii U)
Not the most ambitious of Mario’s 3D platformers but charm and fun to be found in spades.
28) Travis Strikes Again No More Heroes (Switch)
Great dialogue with fun arcade-like games complementing it.
27) Tetris 99 (Switch)
The best battle royale game. Can become very frantic towards the end of a round.
26) Rocket League (Switch)
Very addicting when you get into it.
25) The Touryst (Switch)
Beautiful looking game that’s well worth the price.
24) Marvel Ultimate Alliance 3 The Black Order (Switch)
Not the most complex game ever made but definitely a button masher to sink hours into.
23) Kirby Triple Deluxe (3DS)
A standard Kirby game (definitely not a bad thing) with some cool new copy abilities.
22) Shantae Half-Genie Hero (Switch)
A very good indie platformer with a quirky cast.
21) Mario & Luigi Dream Team Bros. (3DS)
The last great Mario & Luigi game and it truly is great.
20) Pokémon Omega Ruby (3DS)
Not my first Pokémon game but the one that got me into the series.
19) Golf Story (Switch)
Charm, humour and unique gameplay make this indie a classic already.
18) Undertale (Switch)
One of the most iconic games of the last decade and for good reason. Brilliant cast of characters and some immense music.
17) Hyrule Warriors (Wii U)
There’s hours upon hours of content in this game with a healthy dose of Zelda fan service too.
16) Cadence of Hyrule (Switch)
Sublime music make this indie x Nintendo collaboration one to remember.
15) Donkey Kong Country Returns (Wii)
Superb level design help this 2D platformer to stand out.
14) The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time 3D (3DS)
A remake of a classic that improves on the original. What’s not to love?
13) Rayman Legends (Switch)
The music levels alone elevate what’s already a fantastic game.
12) Kirby’s Adventure Wii (Wii)
The ultimate example of the traditional Kirby formula. That final boss music is beautiful.
11) Animal Crossing New Leaf (3DS)
A game I kept coming back to during the 3DS’ lifetime.
10) Super Mario Galaxy 2 (Wii)
An even better sequel to a brilliant game.
9) The Legend of Zelda: A Link Between Worlds (3DS)
The best Zelda game the 3DS has to offer.
8) Mario Kart 8 Deluxe (Switch)
A racing game that delivers on all fronts: graphics, characters, tracks, music and side modes.
7) Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag (Switch)
Possibly the greatest pirate experience you can have in any form of media.
6) Okami HD (Switch)
A gorgeous looking game and story with interesting gameplay to match.
5) Super Mario Odyssey (Switch)
A game bursting with creativity. Mario’s versatile move set makes it a joy to simply go from one place to another.
4) Astral Chain (Switch)
Style oozes from every part of this game. The combat, legion mechanic and story create an unforgettable experience.
3) Bayonetta 2 (Wii U)
Platinum Games at their very best. Fantastic characters combine with a ridiculous story and outrageous boss battles to create a gem.
2) Super Smash Bros. Ultimate (Switch)
It’s ultimate in every sense of the word, packed to the brim with characters, stages, music, modes and more.
1) The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild (Switch)
My favourite game of all time. Not only is the open world huge, but there’s stuff to do and see everywhere you go. If the sequel was only half as good, it would still be a great game.
